Audition Expectations

• Auditions are generally held at the beginning of our season in September and when the second half of our season begins in January.

• Be prepared to sing one selection of your choosing that highlights your strengths. Art songs, pop songs, and musical theatre repertoire are all acceptable.

• You will be asked to sight read and vocalize.

• Accompaniment will be provided. Please bring a copy of your music for the pianist.

Membership Expectations

• Rehearsals are typically on Tuesdays from 7-9:30 PM at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 3633 W. Big Beaver Rd., Troy, MI.

• We rehearse from the first Tuesday after Labor Day until mid-May. We take a winter holiday recess midseason.

• We require our members to participate in every concert. However, depending on the circumstances, a singer may be excused from performing with permission from our Artistic Director.

• We perform at various venues throughout the Metro Detroit area, with occasional optional performances abroad.

• Annual dues are $200, which includes the cost of sheet music.

FAQ

Do you need more singers of my voice part?
We have space for all voice parts. The more, the merrier! Our directors will determine voice placement.

What kind of music do you sing?
Our name has historical significance, but we definitely don’t only sing madrigals! We sing music of all genres, time periods, and styles. There’s a little bit of something for everyone!

Is it difficult to learn so much music?
Madrigal Chorale fosters an environment of encouragement and growth. We support learning repertoire at home by providing access to individual voice part recordings.

How many times do you perform?
We perform 3-4 full concerts and a variety of other appearances per season. Typically, December is our busiest month.
