Madrigal Chorale has been providing scholarships since 1955 when the first $300 scholarship awarded covered 75% of a year's tuition at Wayne State University! Since then we have been proud to award almost $70,000 to help support the musical talents of high school soloists. In response to the decline in music and arts funding in the schools, the Board of Directors recently reexamined the scholarship program, and in 2017, the Madrigal Chorale High School Choral Competition was created to award up to three $1,000 prizes to high school choral music programs in smaller schools throughout the tri-county area. Schools that apply are required to submit recordings that are reviewed by a panel, comprised of Madrigal Chorale's artistic staff, select members, and professional musicians. In addition to the monetary award, winning choirs also participate in a choral clinic taught by members of our artistic staff and are featured in a mini-concert with Madrigal Chorale.
If you are as passionate about supporting school choral music as we are, and would like to donate to our scholarship program, please contact us for further details.
