High School Vocal Scholarship

Madrigal Chorale is pleased to announce its 29th Annual Vocal Scholarship Competition. This unique opportunity allows for aspiring and talented young vocalists to earn scholarship money toward their educational studies.  

Eligible students must submit a vocal recording of their selected pieces for judging. Finalists chosen will be invited to participate in Madrigal Chorale’s Spring Concert which will take place May 18, 2024 at Orchard Lake Community Church located at 5171 Commerce Rd., Orchard Lake, MI. There will be one (1) $600 Grand Prize award, one (1) $300 award and one (1) $200 award presented at this competition.

Finalists will be notified by May 5, 2024. Please note that the concert will be recorded and portions may be used by Madrigal Chorale. 

Enclosed are the qualifications, rules, and application form. We invite and request your help in promoting this competition to qualified high school vocalists. Qualified vocalists include all high school students in good academic standing that attend a high school in Michigan. Please make copies of, or forward, the enclosed materials and distribute them to any interested student.

Congratulations to our 2023 scholarship recipients: 

Our first place finalist, and winner of a $1000 scholarship, is Dahlia Medvinsky, a senior at University Liggett High School in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan. 

Our second place finalist, and winner of a $750 scholarship, is Omi Alba, a senior at Shrine Catholic High School in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Omi will be attending Berklee College of Music in the fall to study songwriting.

Music has always been his passion: writing music, singing in both school and church choirs, participating in musicals and plays, and competing in MSVMA Solo and Ensemble, Honors Choir, and Choir Festival. Omi was recently named one of the Top 12 Solo Finalists in MSVMA Solo and Ensemble, as well as singing in the MSVMA All-State Honors Choir.

Our third place finalist, and winner of a $500 scholarship is Sienna Bostwick, a junior at Stoney Creek High School in Rochester Hills, Michigan.  Sienna hopes to attend Rhode Island School of Design for Illustration after graduating in 2024.
